I like the idea of a paperless society, and so do the trees. This is not a new concept, the virtual classroom is as old as idea as the internet its self. In fact isn't this what Al Gore has claimed to invented when he was in school, a way for students to share in ideas from all over the world. A noble approach to say the least, but what is the real cost for schools who buy into the global classroom? with the rapid changing of technology from year to year, the school risks spending and awful lot of money for training and technology that may need replacing in two to three years. AS you can tell from my stance, Im not an early adopter of new technology, in fact I really don't even like my iphone that much (gasp!), but when it comes to my classroom I woud want every advantage that the district would allow for my students. Laptops, large digital projector and an internet access are what I would call essential tools for the HS classroom these days.
